From one piano playing showman to another, iHeartRadio Music Festival performer Elton John will pay tribute to the late Liberace at this month's Emmy Awards.

The performance at the event honoring the best in primetime television will mark John's first performance at the Emmys. Liberace, who passed away in 1987, is the subject of the Emmy-nominated HBO movie "Behind The Candelabra." The film has received 15 nominations, including outstanding miniseries or movie and acting nods for star Michael Douglas, who plays the legendary Las Vegas showman, and Matt Damon, who plays his longtime companion Scott Thorson.

CBS will air the Emmys live on Sunday, September 22nd, starting at 8:00 pm Eastern, 5:00 pm Pacific. Elton's appearance on the Emmys will come just days before the release of his new album, "The Diving Board," set for release on September 24th.
